How does the game Sonic The Hedgehog work?

Once again, play with the fastest superhero hedgehog, pet of SEGA Sonic. Sonic's mission, as usual, will be to collect as many gold rings as he can on each level and finish off the evil Doctor Robotnic who's kidnapped all the little forest animals.
