How does the game Megaman Polarity Reconstruction work?

Megaman Polarity is a cross between the classic Nintendo Megaman and the innovative Ikaruga, and you'll find elements of both games. Go through five levels on which, at the beginning, you'll be informed of your objectives and you'll have to complete each level on your own.
