How does the game Goblin Flying Machine work?

We're not sure exactly what this nice goblin wants to achieve by launching himself with a catapult, but we still want to help him because his machine doesn't seem to work to well. Throw the little monster in the air and help him glide above everything you find, get gold and buy new upgrades.
