How does the game Flooded Village work?

There's lots of water in the Caribbean, but since it's sea water it's not much good for feeding the trees on the island. Also, pirates in fresh water don't have room to commit their evil deeds. Help nature and man by spreading water all over the place! To do so you have to take away blocks of sand that get in the way.
